A plastics distributor with converting operations was struggling to keep up with rapidly growing demand.  Their sales team was set to knock it out of the park, but their production systems were limiting their growth.  Inadequate controls and processes were causing late deliveries, rework, and dissatisfied customers.  Frequent downtime on critical production equipment was creating production bottlenecks and adding to a growing backlog of late orders.  The Company needed to quickly improve their performance or risk losing customers.

Vuelta Management was retained to help the company identify and solve their operational constraints.  We worked quickly to understand their business and identify critical processes.  We developed a sustainable visual management system that created clear communication between sales, production, and shipping teams, resolved production-scheduling conflicts, and delighted customers by enabling the Company to consistently meet quick-turn demand.  Putting in place a comprehensive preventive maintenance system, our work eliminated production bottlenecks caused by unplanned downtime.  A production system to monitor throughput prevented bottlenecks and allowed management to effectively schedule limiting equipment.  Sustainable systems and training put in place by Vuelta Management eliminated waste and set the stage for explosive growth and profitability.
